Two services that take server-side GTM off your hands. Where they differ on features, scale and price.

Why this is a choice at all

With server-side GTM you process data on a server instead of in your visitor's browser. That gives you a firmer grip on what gets collected, takes load off the visitor's device, and makes GDPR compliance far easier to demonstrate.

That server has to run somewhere. Taggrs and Stape both take on that work, but they aim at different users.

Taggrs

Taggrs is built around a smooth transition. The interface is clear, there's a broad set of tag templates, and the debugging tools help you find quickly where something goes wrong.

It handles data efficiently and holds up in busy periods without slowing your site down. Documentation is thorough and setup is straightforward, which also makes it a fit if you're new to this.

Pricing starts at 22 euros for 750,000 requests a month.

Stape

Stape is stronger at manipulating data. Complex transformations are possible and it connects readily to a range of analytics tools and data sources. That counts once you need something custom.

It scales to larger and more intricate implementations, which suits organisations with heavier data flows. Alongside that come in-depth tutorials, active community forums and support.

Pricing starts at 20 euros for 500,000 requests a month.

Which one fits you

Taggrs is the logical pick if you're small to mid-sized or just starting with server-side GTM. You get a simple, dependable setup with no excess.

Stape suits larger organisations and anyone needing specialised data handling. The more advanced features and the scalability make complex integrations workable.

The prices are close enough that they shouldn't decide it. Look at how much you want to be able to change yourself.
