Server-side tagging

Ad blockers, browser limits on cookies and heavy scripts cost you data and speed. With server-side tagging your site first sends data to a server of your own, on your own domain. From there it goes to GA4, Google Ads, Meta and the rest. You measure more completely, your site loads fewer scripts, and you decide what goes where.

What we do

Server container

A server-side GTM container on Stape or in your own Google Cloud project.

Your own domain

The container runs on a subdomain of your site, so cookies are first-party and last longer.

Platforms from the server

GA4, Google Ads, the Meta Conversions API, the TikTok Events API and other platforms.

Filtering

We strip bot traffic and personal data that mustn't reach a platform before the data goes on.

Hosting that fits

We pick hosting that fits your traffic, so you don't pay for capacity you don't use.

On your platform

Shopify

Since Checkout Extensibility the checkout is sandboxed: the old scripts no longer fire there. We measure the checkout with the Stape app and everything before it with a Liquid dataLayer, all of it through your own server container on your own domain. Consent is tied to Shopify's privacy API, and we switch off the Google and Meta sales channels, otherwise every purchase counts twice.

Magento

The thank-you page is no reliable measuring point here: people click away before it loads, and with redirect payment methods the order arrives later. We measure the purchase server-to-server from the backend, with the order as the source instead of the browser.

WooCommerce

Often several shops on one stack. One server container for all domains, with its own consent setup and conversion IDs per domain, saves maintenance and keeps the data apart.

Without real page loads nothing happens by itself. Route changes have to send their own page_view, events may only fire once the state is loaded, and the dataLayer has to exist before the consent layer. We arrange that with your developers, in their own code.

Excellent service and perfectly configured server-side tracking. Freek from New North Digital set up and optimized our entire tracking.

Frequently asked questions

What does the hosting cost?

That depends on your traffic. You pay the provider, Stape or Google Cloud, directly, and we give you an estimate up front.

Does this get around consent?

No. The server follows the same consent as your site. What a visitor declines, the server doesn't pass on.

Can you take over an existing server-side setup?

Yes. We first go through what's running and what's wrong with it, then take it on.

Want to know what this means for your situation?
